Fujikura joins the international environmental initiative “RE100”
-Accelerating the achievement of the Fujikura Group Environmental Long-Term Vision 2050-

Fujikura Ltd. (President & CEO: Masahiko Ito) has joined RE100 * 2, an initiative led by international NGO, The Climate Group* 1, in partnership with CDP.
RE100 is an initiative that aims to convert the electric power used in business activities into 100% renewable electricity, and 204 companies (as of October 7, 2019) are affiliated around the world.
We have established the “Fujikura Group Long-Term Environmental Vision 2050” * 3, which includes zero CO2 emissions from business activities by 2050. Renewable electricity, taking advantage of this RE100 membership Will accelerate the achievement of the long-term vision and contribute to the mitigation of climate change risk, which is an issue of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) * 4.

3.Fujikura Group Environment Long-term Vision 2050
A long-term vision established by the Fujikura Group in 2016, including “Four Challenges” aimed at minimizing environmental impacts with an eye to the future of 2050.

[Challenge 1] Zero CO2 emissions at plant by 2050 ⇔ Climate change
[Challenge 2] Minimize use of water at plants and wastewater management ⇔ Water risk
[Challenge 3] Symbiosis between plant workers and nature ⇔ Destruction of biodiversity
[Challenge 4] Effective use of resources and resource cycle ⇔ Depletion of resources and increased waste

4.United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
SDGs are international goals from 2016 to 2030 described in the “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015. The 17 goals of SDGs include global environmental protection such as “7: Clean energy” and “13: Climate change”.
