Visualization of environmental performance

Fujikura Group uses an environmental information collection system to collect environmental data such as the amount of energy, water, and chemical substance usage, and the amount of disposal, as well as the results of environmental activities from domestic and overseas group companies. The results of the data compilation and analysis are shared within the group to visualize the status of environmental impact and the results of reduction activities.

Environmental Education

At our head office, business offices, and group companies, we conduct activities to deepen understanding of environmental activities, such as e-learning for all Fujikura employee and training for new Fujikura employee.

Environmental Audit

Fujikura Group regularly conducts environmental audits of domestic Group bases by an auditing team consisting of the Director in Charge of the Environment, the Environmental managemental departments, and the Facility managemental departments audits check the management status of facilities, disposal, and hazardous materials, confirm compliance with ordinances and laws, and follow up on corrective measures for environmental problems, and check activities to reduce environmental impact.We provide guidance and support as necessary, and strive to improve the level of environmental conservation and management at each base.

Environmental Accounting

In order to quantitatively evaluate, Fujikura and group companies disclose their environmental accounting every year in accordance with the Environmental Accounting guideline. By utilizing these guideline, we are able to grasp the costs and benefits of environmental conservation and evaluate the effectiveness of improvements.

Environmental compliance

In addition to complying with laws and regulations, we have set stricter voluntary standards and are reducing emissions of chemical substances into the atmosphere and water systems by conducting daily monitoring, regular measurements, environmental audits, etc. We are also working to thoroughly manage our voluntary standards by strengthening the maintenance and management of our facilities and taking preventive measures against them.

"Fujikura Group 2025 Environmental Management Action guideline" and "FY2023 Environmental Goals"

In response to the SBT certification, the Global Environment committee held in July 2023 formulated the "Fujira Group 2025 Environmental Management Action guideline, Version 3" and the "FY2023 Environmental Goals, Version 2" for the entire group. In addition, the Global Environment committee held in January 2024 formulated the "FY2024 Environmental Goals."

In fiscal 2023, there was one breach related to the environment in Fujikura and domestic group companies.
We received a complaint from the Chiba Prefectural Environment and Life Department's disposal Guidance Division that industrial disposal to which our group companies was entrusted with disposal was stored on the premises of business contractors without being disposed of. Regarding this matter, we have completed the disposal under the guidance of the Chiba Prefecture Environment and Life Department's disposal Guidance Division. In addition, we instructed the group companies that caused this incident to thoroughly manage disposal items.

Are there any fines or sanctions?

Fujikura business and domestic group companies have not received any fines or sanctions for breach environmental laws.
