Recognition as a company that utilizes natural capital
Fujikura Group is deeply aware that its business activities are closely related to the global environment, and aims to make every effort to protect the global environment, advocating the goal of being a "corporate group that is friendly to both people and the global environment." All living things support each other directly and indirectly, and our lives and lifestyles are supported by the many blessings brought about by biodiversity.
In response to requests from local residents for greenery and increased attention to biodiversity as Fujikura Group redeveloped the site of its head office, we established the Fujikura-Kiba Millennium Woods on the site in November 2010.

Actions to mitigate the growing impact on biodiversity
Fujikura Group manages the environmental aspects (causes) of its business activities and is working to curb the increase in their impact on biodiversity.
- We comply with environmental laws and regulations to prevent the worsening of air and water pollution.
- We have set targets for reducing CO2 emissions and are actively working to combat climate change. Specifically, we are introducing renewable energy (for all electricity in the head office area and the Fujikura Dia Cable Fukui Factory, group companies), installing solar panels, and promoting energy conservation (planned switching to LED lighting and energy-saving equipment, etc.).
- disposal We are working toward the goal of zero emissions (zero landfill). This will reduce the number of industrial disposal landfills and prevent the loss of biological habitats.
The Fujikura Group guidelines on biodiversity conservation
In 2013, Fujikura Group formulated the "Fujikura Group Biodiversity guideline" and the "Fujikura Group Long-Term Biodiversity Vision and Roadmap 2030," and is working to raise awareness of biodiversity conservation among each and every Fujikura employee.

Fujikura Group Biodiversity Long-Term Vision Roadmap 2030
As part of the redevelopment of its head office area (Koto-ku, Tokyo), Fujikura Group established the bio garden "Fujikura-Kiba Millennium Woods" in November 2010. This is the flagship of Fujikura Group 's efforts to protect biodiversity.
In 2013, in order to expand biodiversity conservation efforts to the entire group, we proposed turning the green spaces owned by each of Fujikura Group 's business sites into Satoyama parks, and developed a roadmap leading up to 2030.

"Fujikura Sakura Millennium Forest" Project
Fujikura Group established the "Fujikura Sakura Millennium Forest Project" in November 2016 from the perspective of Fujikura employee health management activities based on the "Fujikura Group Biodiversity Long-Term Vision Roadmap 2030" and Fujikura Group Health Management Declaration, and has been considering how to utilize the naturally rich green space that spreads across the grounds of the Fujikura Sakura business (Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture).
In this project, a vegetation survey was conducted by a biodiversity specialist consultant, and a zoning plan for the Millennium Forest was created. Based on this, we promoted the creation of a satoyama green space, including the protection of rare plants, cutting down densely packed trees, planting native trees, and establishing walking paths. Through these activities, a green space of approximately 32,000 m2 was established as "Fujikura Sakura Millennium Forest." The forest is also used for Fujikura employee training, "forest exploration and sweet potato digging events" for Fujikura employee families, and other purposes to promote employee health and vitality.
In recent years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been unable to hold events that bring together large numbers Fujikura employee, but we continue to hold sweet potato digging competitions that are open only to employees. We have also created a "flower bed for everyone" where Fujikura employee have been enjoying planting raspberries and Japanese quince, which were requested by many employees. In the future, we plan to hold events that Fujikura employee families can also enjoy.
