Procurement Activities

Basic Concept

Fujikura Group business is supported by suppliers who provide raw materials, components, and equipment. To build strong and trusting relationships with our suppliers through fair and honest procurement activities, Fujikura Group has established the Fujikura Group Basic Procurement Policy. In addition, we strictly regulate our own behavior through the Fujikura Group Procurement and Purchasing Code of Conduct. We also continue our compliance efforts by regularly holding seminars on the Subcontract Act, including sessions for domestic Group companies.
Furthermore, for units related to procurement and purchasing within the Group, we implement sustainability initiatives such as compliance training to address social issues and consideration for human rights through responsible mineral procurement activities. These efforts include e-learning programs, seminars on the Act against Delay in Payment of Subcontract Proceeds, and regular operational audits.

In addition, in line with the increasing number of ESG-related topics, we consider topics that should be shared with our business partners, such as the importance of human rights due diligence in the supply chain, including responsible mineral sourcing, and information on climate change response. These meetings also help strengthen the capabilities of procurement staff.

Responsible Minerals Sourcing

In order to increase transparency in the supply chain regarding the procurement of conflict minerals, Fujikura Group established the Fujikura Group Conflict Minerals Non-Use policy in August 2011. In response to recent changes in social trends regarding mineral procurement, we establishment the Fujikura Group Responsible Minerals Sourcing policy in May 2019.
With regard to sourcing minerals from conflict-affected and high-risk countries (CAHRAs*), we recognize that local human rights violations, labor issues, and other risks and injustices are serious social issues, and we will promote responsible mineral sourcing throughout our supply chain.

Fujikura Group Policy for Responsible Mineral Sourcing

Based on Fujikura Group Corporate Philosophy MVCV, Fujikura group promotes procurement of minerals which are free from inhuman acts including human right violations and labor issues in regard to mineral procurement in conflict-affected and high-risk areas/countries in order to establish responsible supply chain.

We will continue to strengthen our efforts to ensure responsible mineral sourcing by providing information to our business partners and within the group. We ask our business partners for their understanding of this policy and their cooperation in realizing responsible mineral sourcing.
*CAHRAs: Conflict Affected and High Risk Areas
