Millennium Forest News from November 7th

Although summer temperatures are still being observed in November, the trees in the Millennium Forest are showing their autumnal appearance.
As you stroll through the forest, you'll find some eye-catching red berries at your feet!
This is Ardisia crenata.
Also known as "Juryo," it is aspect by the bright red fruit it produces in late autumn.

This is a Japanese butterbur flower blooming suddenly at the base of a zelkova tree.
Tsuwabuki is a plant of the Asteraceae family that blooms yellow flowers from autumn to winter, and it can apparently be eaten if the bitterness is removed.
I can feel the small signs of autumn coming.
On Monday, October 30th, students from the Tokyo University of Agriculture Graduate School came to the Millennium Forest for a class.
After an explanation in the gazebo about the background to the creation of the Millennium Forest and Fujikura's efforts to protect biodiversity, the students were given a tour of the site.
The students also asked many questions about design and technology, such as the placement of stones in the stream and vegetation management.
On Monday, November 6th, students from the Faculty of Engineering at Musashino University came to the Millennium Forest for a class.
After explaining Fujikura's efforts to achieve sustainability and the background and aspect of the Millennium Forest, the guests were given a tour of the premises.
