Millennium Forest News from March 21

Now in mid-March, the harsh cold has disappeared and the warm sunshine shines in the Millennium Forest, where you can feel spring in many places.
I discovered azaleas that were just about to bloom!
Azaleas are at their best from spring to early summer, when they produce purple flowers.
Seeing them blooming makes me feel cheerful.

And this spring, kingfishers have arrived in the Millennium Forest again!

The kingfishers raise their young in holes they dig in the bank of the upper pond every year.
This year too, we were able to see kingfishers peeking out of holes and taking a rest in the pond.

Along the way, a stray cat started taking a nap near the upper pond, and a kingfisher was seen perched motionless on a branch in the center of the pond, looking wary.
I hope we can see the chicks flying around happily again this year.
