January 22nd Millennium Forest News

As the new year began, the colorful leaves and flowers that had adorned the Millennium Forest have withered and fallen, leaving it completely covered in winter scenery.
Meanwhile, I discovered winter buds on a pussy willow!
Winter buds are the buds of trees and plants that go dormant during the winter, and contain leaves and flower buds folded inside.
Pussy willows are also known as plants that herald the arrival of spring because they bloom earlier than other willows. I can't wait for the spring flowers to bloom.

Despite the bitter cold, a kingfisher with aspect cobalt blue feathers was spotted in the pond below!

Is it trying to get food?
It was seen taking off several times, attempting to dive into the water.

You can also see pigeons strolling through the Millennium Forest!
This is a rock pigeon with a striking green pattern on its neck.
Since they are often found in urban areas, their cry of "Cuckoo!" may be familiar to many people.
