Millennium Forest News from March 19th

The bitter cold has subsided and the season of spring sunshine has arrived.
Near the entrance to the forest, there is a particularly eye-catching flowering tree! This is a witch hazel.
Because witch hazel blooms early, it is popular among people as a flowering tree that heralds the arrival of spring.

On a warm afternoon, I looked into the pond and saw a male mallard duck relaxing leisurely.
However, if you look closely, you will notice that the coloring is slightly different from that of male mallards.
It may be a hybrid between a mallard and a spot-billed duck.

When we went to the water's edge, we saw a brown-eared bulbul bathing happily.
It splashes around in the water, then lands on a nearby branch, and after a while dives back into the water!

Bathing in the water looks very pleasant.

In addition to the brown-eared bulbuls, we were also able to see great tits near the water.
After it appeared, it hid in the gaps between the plants, so I wondered if it would come out again, but it soon came out again near the water.

It's really nice to see birds in their natural habitat.
