Actions to mitigate the growing impact on biodiversity

Fujikura Group manages the environmental aspects (causes) of its business activities and is working to curb the increase in their impact on biodiversity.

Fujikura Group Biodiversity Long-Term Vision Roadmap 2030

As part of the redevelopment of its head office area (Koto-ku, Tokyo), Fujikura Group established the bio garden "Fujikura-Kiba Millennium Woods" in November 2010. This is the flagship of Fujikura Group 's efforts to protect biodiversity.
In 2013, in order to expand biodiversity conservation efforts to the entire group, we proposed turning the green spaces owned by each of Fujikura Group 's business sites into Satoyama parks, and developed a roadmap leading up to 2030.

"Fujikura Sakura Millennium Forest" Project

The Fujikura Group Fujikura Group established the Fujikura Sakura Millennium Forest Project in November 2016 from the perspective of Fujikura employee health management activities based on Fujikura Group 's Health Management Declaration, and has been considering how to utilize the naturally rich green space that spreads within the grounds of the Fujikura Sakura business (Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture).
For this project, a vegetation survey was conducted by a specialist biodiversity consultant, and a zoning plan for the Millennium Forest was created. Based on this plan, we have promoted the creation of a satoyama green space, including the protection of rare plants, the cutting down of densely packed trees, the planting of native species, and the development of walking paths. Through these activities, a green space of approximately 32,000 m2 has been developed as "Fujikura Sakura Millennium Forest." The forest is also used for Fujikura employee training, a "Children's Tour: Forest Exploration & Sweet Potato Digging Event" for Fujikura employee' families, and other activities to promote employee health and vitality.
The Sakura business 's "Children's Exciting Field Trip" was held for the first time in six years after being canceled due to typhoons and the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants enjoyed the beautiful nature of Sakura Millennium Forest and thoroughly enjoyed the hiking experience. Children were engrossed in digging sweet potatoes. We plan to continue holding events that Fujikura employee and their families can enjoy.
