Business Continuity Plan/Management (BCP/BCM)

Basic Concept

Fujikura Group establishment the Fujikura Group business Continuity Policy in June 2010 and is working to formulate and implement various plans for business continuity in order to ensure a stable supply of products and services to the market even in the event of an emergency.

The Fujikura Group Business Continuity Policy

Fujikura Group will practice business continuity management in accordance with the following principles in order to continue business even in the event of an emergency, fulfill its social responsibilities as a company, and ensure a stable supply of products and services.

  1. Protecting the lives and safety of group Fujikura employee and their families comes first
  2. Fujikura Group will work together to respond
  3. Take advance preparations to protect assets essential for business continuity
  4. Contributing to society through the continuation of business that supports social infrastructure
  5. Fulfilling our responsibilities in the global supply chain

the goal

  • We will position business continuity efforts as a top priority for management and make them a continuous organization activity for the entire Fujikura Group. We will determine business we will prioritize, flesh out business continuity system, and then expand it to other business.
  • In the event of an emergency, we will formulate a business continuity plan with the goals of ensuring the safety of Fujikura employee and their families and quickly restoring company functions.
  • In order to ensure the effectiveness of business continuity plans, we will systematically promote measures that require preparation and response in advance.
  • We will continually update business continuity plan to maintain business continuity, keeping up with changes in the environment, such as changes in social conditions, technological advances, and revision to legal systems.
  • We will regularly conduct training based on business continuity plan, evaluate the level of penetration and proficiency within organization, and verify the effectiveness, etc., of the plan in cooperation with external organization.

Management System

We have established a organization system with the director in charge of general affairs as the general manager, and the Human Resources and General Affairs Department as the unit supervisor. The general manager unit requests each unit to submit necessary explanations, reports, and materials in the execution of operations related to business continuity management activities, and requests each unit to appoint a person in charge to conduct business continuity management activities, and together with a person in charge, business maintains and continually improves the continuity system.

Roll out BCP formulation to the entire group

In fiscal 2009, Fujikura Group selected business of the target departments as pilot business departments, and worked to concretize the value chain surrounding business of the departments and to consider and formulate a business continuity plan (BCP) that assumes the event of a disaster in the event of a large-scale natural disaster. After the pilot business is formulated, it is gradually expanded to business other parts, and each business units develops a business-specific BCP. By building BCPs across these business, Fujikura Group is reducing recovery time, strengthening business foundations, improving overall disaster response capabilities, and ensuring confidence in customer requests.

Initiatives for fiscal 2024

Promoting BCP and BCM

As part of the Group's ongoing BCP and BCM (business Continuity Management) efforts, in addition to updating documentation in light of changes in the internal and external environment surrounding business, we also conduct drills aimed at confirming action procedures in the event of an unforeseen incident, and mock disaster exercises* aimed at gaining various awareness necessary in the event of a disaster.

* Mock disaster exercise: A type of tabletop training. By participating in the exercise, participants are encouraged to recognize the need for advance planning/preparation in disaster countermeasures and the importance of training.
