the goal

  • We will position business continuity efforts as a top priority for management and make them a continuous organization activity for the entire Fujikura Group. We will determine business we will prioritize, flesh out business continuity system, and then expand it to other business.
  • In the event of an emergency, we will formulate a business continuity plan with the goals of ensuring the safety of Fujikura employee and their families and quickly restoring company functions.
  • In order to ensure the effectiveness of business continuity plans, we will systematically promote measures that require preparation and response in advance.
  • We will continually update business continuity plan to maintain business continuity, keeping up with changes in the environment, such as changes in social conditions, technological advances, and revision to legal systems.
  • We will regularly conduct training based on business continuity plan, evaluate the level of penetration and proficiency within organization, and verify the effectiveness, etc., of the plan in cooperation with external organization.

Management System

We have established an organization structure in which the Director in charge of General Affairs serves as the General Manager, and the Human Resources and General Affairs Department serves as the Controlling unit. In carrying out operations related to business continuity management activities, the Controlling unit requests each unit to provide necessary explanations, reports and materials, and requests each unit to appoint a person in charge in charge of business continuity management activities. Together with a person in charge works to develop and continuously improve business continuity system.

Roll out BCP formulation to the entire group

In fiscal 2009, Fujikura Group selected the target business as pilot business divisions, and worked to concretize the value chain surrounding the business and to consider and formulate a business Continuity Plan (BCP) in the event of a large-scale natural disaster. After formulating the pilot business department, it is gradually rolled out to business other departments, and each company develops a business-specific BCP. By building a BCP that crosses these business, Fujikura Group has shortened recovery time, strengthened its business infrastructure, improved its comprehensive disaster response capabilities, and secured reliability in response to customer requests.

Initiatives for fiscal 2023

Promoting BCP and BCM

Fujikura accurately grasps business risks and formulates a highly applicable BCP to prepare the necessary advance measures and emergency systems to strengthen its business foundations, thereby realizing a stable supply of products to the market and earning the trust of customer and others.
With regard to BCP, we are updating documents in light of changes in the internal and external environments surrounding business. As part of our BCM activities, we are implementing initiatives for voluntary and continuous improvement of group companies 's BCP and BCM, such as conducting mock disaster exercises* for BCP and crisis response a person in charge at the head office and Group companies to acquire various awareness necessary in the event of a disaster.

* Mock disaster exercise: A type of tabletop training. By participating in the exercise, participants are encouraged to recognize the need for advance planning/preparation in disaster countermeasures and the importance of training.
