Fujitsu Begins Providing Samples of New High-Output 28 GHz Phased Array Antenna Module FutureAccess™ Type-C - Supports Infrastructure Sharing -
October 31, 2023
Fujikura Ltd.
Fujikura Ltd. (Director, President and CEO: Okada Naoki) has developed a high-output Type-C version of its 28 GHz millimeter-wave phased array antenna module (PAAM) "FutureAccess™" for 5G base stations, and will begin supplying samples in November.
At the same time, we also plan to start offering an evaluation board equipped with the module.

- Compact design using Fujikura's unique high-frequency integrated circuit design technology
- Supports infrastructure sharing, where multiple mobile communication business share a single antenna
While retaining strong point / feature of the newly developed high-output PAAM, such as its compact size, no calibration required, and tiling capability, the antenna output has been roughly doubled through improvements to the design of the high-frequency integrated circuit it is equipped with. This expands the communication area while improving the quality of communication calls and providing a stable connection environment.
The high-frequency integrated circuit was designed using Fujikura's proprietary technology, and will contribute to the development of compact, high-performance antennas that are being installed by mobile communication business both in Japan and overseas.
Furthermore, by reviewing the internal configuration, it is now possible to cover the operation of the entire band of n257 (26.5-29.5GHz) or n258 (24.25-27.5GHz) with a single piece of hardware. It can also support infrastructure sharing, where multiple mobile communication business share a single antenna. This type of equipment sharing not only reduces the costs of installing and maintaining the equipment, but also reduces the total energy required for operation.
We will continue to advance research and development of 5G millimeter wave communication devices, contributing to the realization of an advanced information society and carbon neutrality.

PAAM "FutureAccess™" Evaluation board equipped with Type-C
*1 Higher output than the conventional PAAM "FutureAccess™"
Compared to our previous products, the equivalent isotropic radiated power (an index of antenna output) has been improved from 45dBm to 48dBm. A difference of 3dB means twice the strength of the antenna output.
<28GHz mmWave Phased Array Antenna Module (PAAM) "FutureAccess™">
It operates in the mmWave frequency bands n257 (28 GHz), n258 (26 GHz), and n261 (27 GHz) specified by the 5G standard and can be used both indoors and outdoors. The high level of integration of the 8x8 antenna elements, high-frequency integrated circuits, and filters enables the rapid design of compact 5G mmWave communication systems. High power efficiency and extremely fast beam switching (<220ns) give Fujikura's PAAM-based systems industry-leading performance.
