Fujikura received A- score for climate change from CDP February 19, 2024 Fujikura Ltd. Fujikura Ltd. (President and CEO Naoki Okada) and its group companies announced today that the company was given A- score in Climate Change by CDP. A- is 2nd highest score and categorized as leadership level. CDP, which is a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) based in the UK, requires companies to disclose information about quantity of greenhouse gas (GHG) they emit and how they tackle the changing change and so on. More than 23,000 companies in the world answered Climate Change questionnaires and CDP evaluates companies from A to D- in terms of how effectively they respond to environmental issues and transparent disclosure of the activities. CDP score is an important indicator for investors around the world who are conscious of company’s ESG efforts. Fujikura group’s A- score is for the first time in 2 years since 2021. Fujikura group established the Fujikura Group Environmental Long-term vision 2050 in 2016 and planned to undertake four challenges. Challenge 1: Zero CO2 emissions at plants by 2050, Challenge 2: Minimize use of water at plants and wastewater management, Challenge 3: Symbiosis between plant workers and nature, Challenge 4: Effective use of resources and resource cycle. Fujikura group also set midterm targets to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 33% and 15% of absolute Scope3 emissions by 2030 from 2020 base year. These targets are validated by Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). The A- score is seen among us as a result that our various environmental activities to achieve these goals and carbon-free society were evaluated favorably. We will continue to promote reduction in GHG emissions.
