Social Contribution Activities

The Fujikura Group's Concept of Social Contribution Activities

The Fujikura Group's social contribution activities are based on the our Group Management Philosophy;MVCV(Mission,Vision,Core Value) "The Fujikura Group contributes to customer value creation and society through "Tsunagu"(connecting) technology." As well as based on "Each employee is aware of their role as a member of society and acts with social decency" in the Group's basic CSR pricipales. In addition, the Group's CSR activity guidelines stipulate that "we will respect the culture and customs of each country and region and actively engage in social contribution activities." These ideas are the basis of our social contribution activities.

Our social contribution activities began in 1919 when Harukichi Nakauchi, a former corporate auditor of the Company, invested his own money to establish "Fujikura Gakuen," an educational facility for people with intellectual disabilities. Since then, we have supported "Fujikura Gakuen" from the viewpoint of both the company and the individual, and as one of the DNA of the Fujikura Group, we have been looking at and practicing the relationship between companies and "society" as the times have changed. Since the establishment of "Fujikura Gakuen", we have been engaged in social contribution activities for about 100 years. We will continue to carefully protect this support for "Fujikura Gakuen" as the starting point for the Fujikura Group's social contribution activities.

Fujikura Group's Basic Policy on Social Contribution

The Fujikura Group CSR Committee has established the "Fujikura Group Basic Social Responsibility Prinsiples" to facilitate activities for employees to actively promote social contribution activities in collaboration with local communities.

Fujikura Group Basic Principles on Social Contribution

In line with its corporate philosophy and in response to the needs and expectations of society, the Fujikura Group will proactively conduct social contribution activities for the creation of a better society where people can lead more fulfilling lives.

History of Fujikura's Social Contribution

Our predecessors built a factory in Kiba, Tokyo in 1919. Since then, we have spent about 100 years with everyone in the Kiba area.

From the founding in 1885 to the present, we have nurtured and protected our corporate culture that "we value our customers and live with society." and have inherited it in the hearts of each and every employee until today. The social contribution activities that our predecessors have carried out as individuals and as a company are still alive as a corporate culture.

Key Activities

Relationship with "Fujikura Gakuen"

Fujikura Gakuen was founded on June 7, 1919 by Harukichi Nakauchi, younger brother of the founder of Fujikura and former auditor of the Company. He donated 230,000 yen (equivalent to about two billion yen today) from his own funds to construct this school for the mentally disabled on land extending over about 132,000 m2 in Izu Oshima. He also donated this land and the facilities necessary for the foundation of the school.

Currently, there are facilities in Izu Oshima and Tama (Hachioji city), about 100 staff members are doing education and welfare on a 24-hour system for about 130 students. Since its founding, the presidents and executive officers have supported the management as directors, and donations from employees have been continued to date as well as company donations. We hope to continue to support "Fujikura Gakuen" as the origin of social contribution activities in the future.
