Management of Chemical Substances

Policy and Guidelines

Fujikura and its Group companies in Japan disclose the release and transfer amount of chemicals above one ton used in materials and manufacturing to the government in accordance with the PRTR law* and based on the Fujikura Group Environmental Management Principles version 5.2.

Targets and Results

Fujikura and Japanese group companies have improved their goal of reducing the amount of PRTR processed (unit price of emissions of major environmentally harmful substances (unit price of sales)) from FY2015 (1%) to FY2019 by more than 4%. Improvement). over 1 year)).
The mainly used substances of antimonous or lead compounds, bis phtalate, (2-ethylhexyl), etc. are used as additives for plastic and rubber materials, and xylene and toluene, etc. are used in such products as ink solvents and gasoline for transport vehicles. In an effort to reduce the release and transfer of these chemicals, we promote changing to lead-free, green materials, and changing to substitute materials for use in manufactured goods.
The amount of class 1 designated chemical substances handled at the workplaces of all Group companies in Japan in fiscal 2019 was 268 tons, a 69.4% reduction compared to fiscal 2015, while the amount transferred was 17.8 tons, down 47.2% from fiscal 2015. The basic unit was 7.45 t / 100 million yen, an improvement of 40.5% compared to fiscal 2015, and the target was achieved.
Mainly due to factors such as the conversion of materials containing bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate to alternative materials, the decrease in production of products containing PRTR substances, and the end of production, the amount handled and the amount discharged / transferred It was reduced.
