Activities to Suppress the Increase in the Impact on Biodiversity
The Fujikura Group manages the environmental aspects (causes) related to business activities and carries out activities to suppress the increase in the impact on biodiversity.
- 1.We comply with environmental laws and regulations and prevent deterioration of air pollution and water pollution.
- 2.We set targets to reduce CO2 emissions and are vigorously working on climate change issues. Specifically, we are implementing renewable energy introduction (headquarters district, full power of Fujikura Dia Cable Fukui plant of group companies), installation of solar panels, systematic switching to LED lighting, etc.
- 3.We are active with the goal of zero emissions (zero landfill) of waste. This will suppress the increase of the industrial waste final disposal site and lead to the prevention of the loss of the biological habitat.
The Fujikura Group's Guidelines on Biodiversity Conservation
The Fujikura Group has formulated the "Fujikura Group Biodiversity Securing Guidelines" and the "Fujikura Group Biodiversity Long-term Vision and Road map 2030" in 2013 and is making progress with initiatives to raise awareness of each employee's conservation of biodiversity I will.

Fujikura Group's Roadmap 2030:
A Long-Term Vision for Biodiversity
As part of the redevelopment of the headquarters district (Koto Ward, Tokyo), the Fujikura Group established the Biogaden "Fujikura Kiba Millennium Forest" in November 2010. This is the flagship of the Fujikura Group's efforts to secure biodiversity.
In 2013, in order to expand efforts to secure biodiversity to the entire group, we propose "Satoyama park" as an attempt to utilize the green space owned in each workplace of the Fujikura Group, and will introduce a road map until 2030 I formulated it.

Main Efforts of 2017
As the main activity of the roadmap, we began to convert the green spaces in the premises of Fujikura Sakura Works (Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture). To that end, in November 2016 we launched the "Sakura Millennial Forest Project" and formulated an implementation plan for the five years to 2020. In fiscal 2017, we have been engaged in vegetation survey of green areas, zoning, improvement of promenade, use of events etc.
This initiative is prescribed in the management items of the Fujikura Group Environmental Management Activity Guidelines and the implementation status is monitored by the Global Environment Committee.
Certified as Edo Green Registration Green Area (Excellent Green Area)
Bio Garden "Fujikura Kiba Millennium Forest" has been registered as a good green area of the newly established system "Green space of Edo's green registration". |

Efforts in Sakura Works
"Sakura Millennium Woods" Project
In fiscal 2017, we created a zoning plan for the millennium forest by special consultant on biodiversity. Based on this, we promoted the conversion of green spaces, such as protection of rare plants, logging of dense trees, tree planting of native trees, and development of walking paths. We also utilized it for internal community, such as employment training for employee training, "Forest exploration & Totoro event" for employee families.

Participate in the Biodiversity Chiba Corporate Network
The Sakura Works is promoting biodiversity efforts by participating in the Biodiversity Chiba Enterprise Network. This network is hosted by Chiba Prefecture, 15 corporate members in the prefecture and 7 support members are participating in the center. At Fujikura, we report our biodiversity activities, establish biodiversity satellites in the cafeteria, and participate in study sessions. |
|
Suzuka Works Initiatives
At the Suzuka Works, we are considering the management and utilization of nature-rich green spaces spread within our business sites. In 2017 we also maintained and managed green spaces by employees. Also, in January every year we commemorate planting trees by new adults, and we plan to preserve biodiversity by selecting native species when planting trees.
