Fujikura Group's Roadmap 2030:
A Long-Term Vision for Biodiversity

As part of the redevelopment of the headquarters district (Koto Ward, Tokyo), the Fujikura Group established the Biogaden "Fujikura Kiba Millennium Forest" in November 2010. This is the flagship of the Fujikura Group's efforts to secure biodiversity.

In 2013, in order to expand efforts to secure biodiversity to the entire group, we propose "Satoyama park" as an attempt to utilize the green space owned in each workplace of the Fujikura Group, and will introduce a road map until 2030 I formulated it.

Biological Diversity Road Map 2030

Main Efforts of 2017

As the main activity of the roadmap, we began to convert the green spaces in the premises of Fujikura Sakura Works (Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture). To that end, in November 2016 we launched the "Sakura Millennial Forest Project" and formulated an implementation plan for the five years to 2020. In fiscal 2017, we have been engaged in vegetation survey of green areas, zoning, improvement of promenade, use of events etc.

This initiative is prescribed in the management items of the Fujikura Group Environmental Management Activity Guidelines and the implementation status is monitored by the Global Environment Committee.

Certified as Edo Green Registration Green Area (Excellent Green Area)

Bio Garden "Fujikura Kiba Millennium Forest" has been registered as a good green area of the newly established system "Green space of Edo's green registration".
This system restores the environment suitable for the creatures of Tokyo, including animals such as insects and birds, by planting plants (native species) naturally distributed in Tokyo on the premises of buildings etc. It is a native planting registration system established by the Tokyo metropolitan government as an effort to do. Now, our efforts to biodiversity sticking to the native species in the forest of the Millennium Kiba forest are appreciated and registered as the first excellent green spaces after the registration system was established.

We will continue to cooperate with efforts to plant native species that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will advance, and will continue to act as a local community activity through the forest of Millennium Kiba.

The Fujikura Sakura Works, from the perspective of "Fujikura Group Biodiversity Long-term Vision / Roadmap 2030" and employee health management activities based on the Fujikura Group's health management declaration, in November 2016, "Forest of Sakura Millennium Forest Project We are studying to exploit the use of rich natural greenery spreading within our business sites.

In fiscal 2017, we created a zoning plan for the millennium forest by special consultant on biodiversity. Based on this, we promoted the conversion of green spaces, such as protection of rare plants, logging of dense trees, tree planting of native trees, and development of walking paths. We also utilized it for internal community, such as employment training for employee training, "Forest exploration & Totoro event" for employee families.
