Supporting the organization of a local film festival

As in the previous year, the Fujikura Group supported a local film festival, which was held by the local government and volunteer citizens at the Furuishiba Bunka Center for three days from January 12. Specifically, the Group supported sales of advance tickets and poster advertising, thereby contributing to the preservation and development of local culture as part of its CSR activities.

Support to nature education for children

The Fujikura Group has long been committed to biodiversity conservation and has established the Fujikura-Kiba Millennium Woods as a biotope for living creatures within Fukagawa Gatharia. In the bio-garden, we are continuing to protect wildlife, while enjoying the natural environment with local residents. In fiscal 2012, we used the garden to support nature education for local elementary school students and provide local kindergarten children with an opportunity to dig potatoes.

Blood donation activities

As in the previous year, we conducted a blood donation activity in the Fukagawa district on October 17, 2012, in which a lot of employees participated. We conduct this activity twice a year in Fukagawa Gatharia, typically drawing the participation of 80 or more employees each time. The Sakura Plant conducts the activity four times a year, with around 100 employees taking part, and a total of 500 or more employees of the plant donate blood annually. The activity of the plant was introduced by the Japan Red Cross Society in its PR magazine in the section on supporting companies. Other plants of Fujikura Ltd. and Group companies also conduct blood donation activities with the participation of many employees.

Children’s tour of the Sakura Plant

The Sakura Plant invited children to make a tour of the plant and successful applicants visited the plant on August 8 in the middle of their summer vacation. Participating children made a tour of the plant and also attended a science class given by employees. Although it is said that the number of children who are not interested in science is increasing, the children showed great interest in the scientific experiments.
