~First implementation of off-site corporate PPA at Fukagawa Gatharia ~
Fujikura Ltd. (Director, President and CEO: Naoki Okada) introduced an off-site corporate PPA※ 2 to the mixed-use facility "Fukagawa Gatharia" (Koto-ku, Tokyo), which was redeveloped on the site of a former Fujikura factory.
Fujikura is promoting activities to achieve zero CO2 emissions (Scope 1 and 2) across the entire group, including factories and offices, by 2050.
Under this policy, Fukagawa Gatharia has been working on energy saving through improving the efficiency of office buildings and commercial facilities, and advancing energy management technologies through the use of BEMS (Building Energy Management System). In recent years, through the use of non-fossil certificates, We have been promoting the effective renewable energy of electricity consumption.
This PPA introduction further advances these efforts and expands the use of renewable energy in the Fukagawa Gatharia.
Through Liene Co., Ltd., a retail electricity business, Fujikura will procure renewable electricity for use at some facilities in Fukagawa Gatharia over 20 years based on PPAs. The annual procurement volume is equivalent to approximately 2,500 MWh, which is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1,130 tons each year.
At Fukagawa Gatharia, we will further promote our efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and continue to operate in a way that is more environmentally friendly, so that we can remain a facility that is popular with local residents, visitors, and business people alike.

This urban regeneration space was redeveloped by Fujikura in 2003 with the concept of "establishing a new identity for the Fukagawa-Kiba area." With a view to inheriting the culture and traditions of the downtown area and creating a new era, it is an integrated facility that includes office buildings, a large supermarket, a movie theater, a restaurant area, a fitness club, and more. Gatharia is a coined word made up of GATHER (to gather) + AREA (area) + IA (a suffix of Latin origin that means country or region), representing an area where people and things gather.
*2 Off-site corporate PPA
This refers to a contract to purchase electricity at a fixed price over the long term from renewable energy power plants, such as solar power plants, located in remote areas outside Fujikura premises. It's a system that eliminates initial costs and enables a stable supply of renewable energy.
