"100R"

Against the backdrop of the widespread adoption and expansion of generative AI, the scale of data centers has been increasing in recent years, with notable trends toward reduced diameter, higher density, and ultra‑high fiber counts in optical fiber cables. In such environments, faster and more reliable optical fiber connections are required.

The new mass fusion splicer “100R” is capable of splicing from single optical fiber to intermittently bonded ribbon fibers (SWR ) with up to 16 fibers. Equipped with various advanced technologies, it significantly enhances splicing work efficiency, particularly in the installation of reduced‑diameter, high‑density, and ultra‑high‑fiber‑count optical fiber cables for data centers and next‑generation communication infrastructure.

Newly Equipped “Automatic Optical Fiber Seating Function” and “Fiber Ends Gap Correction Function”

“Automatic Optical Fiber Seating Function”

The new mass fusion splicer “100R” is equipped with an Automatic Optical Fiber Seating Function. This feature aligns optical fibers that do not sit properly in the V‑groove — used for high‑precision axial alignment — when they are set, thereby reducing the need to reset the fibers and shortening overall working time.

“Fiber Ends Gap Correction Function”

The Fiber Ends Gap Correction Function, which automatically equalizes the gap between the left and right optical fiber end faces before fusion splicing, has also been incorporated for the first time. This function reduces connection loss compared to previous models.

“Other Features”

New Optical Fiber Holder “FH‑80 Series”

The clamp mechanism mounted at the tip improves fiber setting performance when using the intermittently bonded ribbon fibers  (SWR ).

FH-80-12(for 12 fiber ribbon)

The fiber holders and V‑grooves, as with previous models, are available in a lineup corresponding to the number of optical fiber cores and the spacing between fibers, and can be replaced by the operator according to the optical fibers to be fusion‑spliced.

“GPS Function”

The connection inspection results are recorded together with the connection position information, improving construction management efficiency and traceability. These details can be downloaded to a smartphone using the “Splice+”*1 application..

Also Equipped with Conventional Functions

Also equipped with features from previous models, including the automatic wind protector opening/closing function, ACTIVE FUSION CONTROL TECHNOLOGY*2 for automatically controlling discharge conditions, and ACTIVE BLADE MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY*3 for wireless management of the optical fiber cutter’s blade, delivering stable, low‑loss connections.

Fujikura will continue to develop and provide advanced products, contributing to the construction of data centers and the development of next‑generation communication infrastructure, thereby helping to realize a digital society.

*SWR (Spider Web Ribbon) is a trademark of Fujikura Ltd.

*1 “Splice+” smartphone application
– Fujikura’s free utility app for fusion splicers, enabling users to view splice data and cleaver blade usage counts, as well as adjust heater temperature settings.

*2 ACTIVE FUSION CONTROL TECHNOLOGY
– Analyzes the condition of cleaved optical fiber end faces and the intensity of optical fiber glow during arc discharge, performing real-time arc control.

*3 ACTIVE BLADE MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY
– Monitors the condition of the cleaver blade, and when wear is detected, wirelessly rotates the blade automatically.
