Fujikura Ltd. (Director, President and CEO: Naoki Okada) received the Excellence Award at the 2025 Sustainable finance Awards sponsored by the Institute for Environmental Finance (RIEF).
The award was established in 2015 to recognize companies and organizations that have made advanced and meaningful efforts in solving environmental and social issues and integrating the role of finance with the realization of a sustainable society.
This is the first time that Fujikura has won the award, and I attended the award ceremony this time.
This time, the excellence award was highly evaluated.
•New SWR ® plant newly established in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture business
•Complex facility "LEGARE" in Fukagawa Gatharia, Koto-ku, Tokyo
These are efforts to create environmental and social value related to these two new projects.
[New SWR® factory aiming to achieve carbon neutrality]
The new SWR® factory established at the Sakura business is actively introducing GX (Green Transformation) technology, aiming to become Fujikura's first carbon neutral company. The factory produces thin-diameter, Intermittently bonded ribbon fibers fiber ribbon Fiber Optic Cable, "SWR® (Spider Web Ribbon®)."
WTC® is expected to contribute to improving wiring efficiency and energy conservation in hyperscale data center, and is an innovative solution that will simultaneously advance information and communications infrastructure while reducing environmental impact.
[Complex facility "LEGARE"]
LEGARE, a new complex located within Fukagawa Gatharia, is promoting urban development that supports the diverse lifestyles of local residents by expanding medical services and attracting tenants offering food and beverages, retail, and various other services.
The facility adopted an environmentally conscious design in both construction and operation to address social issues such as environmental problems and disaster risks. As a result of introducing a variety of technologies to enhance energy-saving performance, the facility has received the highest five-star rating under the Building Energy Efficiency Labeling Scheme (BELS).
Taking this opportunity to receive the award, Fujikura will continue to position the reduction of environmental impact and the creation of social value as important pillars of its management, and will further strengthen its sustainable technological development and business activities.
