press release
Sale launch of world's first "13,824 fiber SWRTM /WTCTM"
~ Related termination components also now commercially available for customer of hyperscale data center ~
Fujikura Ltd. (Director, President and CEO: Naoki Okada) has launched sales with the addition of the world's highest ultra-multicentric Fiber Optic Cable, the world's highest ultra-multicentric , "13,824 Lineup SWRs ® *1/WTCs ® *2" for hyperscale Fiber Optic Cable data center.
The product, along with the associated termination components, has been delivered to a hyperscale data center outside of the country and has already completed laying work.
The new product "13,824 Core SWR ® /WTC ®" is a 12-fiber intermittent fixed Optical Fiber ribbon (SWR ® ®) capable of multi-core collective fusion connection with Fujikura's proprietary ultra-thin, high-density fiber optic cable (Wrapping Tube) Cable ®: WTC ® Fiber Optic Cable).
data center In order to laying Fiber Optic Cable underground, there are restrictions on the number of buried pipelines and the inner diameter, and a thinner diameter Fiber Optic Cable is required.
In the previous WTC ®, the Fiber Optic Cable with an SWR ® of 6.9 12-fiber was the most numerous, but the new product has twice the number of cores compared to the previous model while keeping the outer diameter to 40 mm or less.
In addition, we have commercialized a dedicated Fiber Optic Cable branch kit to match the Sales Launch of the 13,824 core SWR ® /WTC ®.
This branching kit uses Spider Web Tube ™ (SWT ™)*3, which applies SWR ® technology. It is equipped with a strong point / feature that can easily unitize multiple SWRs ®, contributing to a significant reduction in the time required for connection processing on fusion stacks.
The fusion stack has a multi-player Optical Fiber fusion function that allows you to take out the internal tray and perform fusion work. In contrast to the conventional fusion rack, which cannot be removed from the tray, the ultra-multi-core Fiber Optic Cable Optical Fiber connection and branching work is performed by a single worker, but the fusion rack of the Fujikura has a multi-player Optical Fiber fusion function that allows multiple people to perform fusion work at the same time.
SWT ™ is also used for the fusion rack, and the Optical Fiber extra length required when working with multiple people can be stored compactly, realizing the industry's top ultra-high density and space-saving wiring, while at the same time shortening the work time for optical construction and supporting early data center construction.
Currently, due to the rapid spread and expansion of cloud services and generative AI, communication traffic is increasing at an accelerated pace.
Fujikura will contribute to the construction of advanced communication networks by supplying fine-diameter, high-density SWRs ® /WTCs ® that can efficiently utilize existing infrastructure networks, and at the same time, will continue to contribute to the realization of an even more advanced information society through the development of high-quality and innovative technologies and products.

*Spider Web Ribbon ® (SWR ®), Wrapping Tube Cable ® (WTC ®) and SWT ™ (Spider Web Tube ™) are registered trademarks of Fujikura.
*1 SWR ® (Spider Web Ribbon ®)
Optical Fiber ribbon developed using Fujikura's proprietary technology. It is made by intermittently bonding Optical Fiber and is strong point / feature by its flexibility. It enables high-density mounting within Fiber Optic Cable, contributing to the creation of thinner, higher-density Fiber Optic Cable.
*2 WTC ® (Wrapping Tube Cable ®)
The name of a small-diameter, high-density Fiber Optic Cable that incorporates SWR® and was developed using Fujikura's proprietary technology. Fiber Optic Cable with a simple structure in which an Optical Fiber fiber ribbon is covered with a pressure-wrapped tape. Since it has a smaller diameter and higher density structure than conventional Fiber Optic Cable, such as the slot structure that is mainly used in Japan and the loose tube structure that is common overseas, it can use existing conduits and significantly shorten construction time.
*3 Spider Web Tube ™ (SWT ™)
This is a tube with an SWR® structure that is intermittently fixed and bonded, and is strong point / feature by its flexibility and elasticity. This product contributes to the realization of the industry's highest density space-saving wiring in the fusion rack.
