Sales Launch of the "16-fiber SWR™ /WTC™ "Lineup
While conventional WTC™ has incorporated 4-, 8-, and 12-fiber SWR™, we have newly added the 16-fiber SWR™ which enables multi-fiber mass fusion splicing, to our product lineup. The 16-fiber SWR™ /WTC™ will be launched as a strategic product targeting AI data centers and hyperscale data centers.
In recent years, the spread and advancement of cloud services and generative AI have accelerated global investments in data centers. In AI and hyperscale data centers, the adoption of 16-fiber type multi-fiber mass connection fiber optic connectors such as MMC and MPO is increasing, reflecting diversified market needs. In response, we have developed a 16-fiber type SWR™ that offers high compatibility with multi-fiber mass connection fiber optic connectors and expanded our product lineup from 288 fibers up to 6,912 fibers.
The newly developed 16-fiber SWR™ /WTC™ features the same ultra-thin, high-density characteristics as conventional SWR™ /WTC™ , contributing to space-saving during installation. Moreover, since the number of optical fibers that can be fusion-spliced simultaneously is increased compared to previous products, it enables labor savings at work sites and significantly shortens work time. Additionally, by adopting a sheath with weather resistance, high flame retardancy, and low smoke emission, the cable can be installed both inside and outside buildings.
Currently, communication traffic is increasing exponentially, and there is a growing global demand for data center construction. By supplying ultra-thin, high-density SWR™ /WTC™ that efficiently utilizes existing infrastructure networks, Fujikura contributes to the development of advanced communication networks. We will continue to contribute to realizing a more advanced information society through high-quality and innovative technologies and product development.

Structure of 16-fiber SWR™ /WTC™
*Spider Web Ribbon™ (SWR™) and Wrapping Tube Cable™ (WTC™) are trademarks of Fujikura Ltd.
*1 Wrapping Tube Cable™ (WTC™)
The name of an ultra-thin, high-density fiber optic cable developed using Fujikura’s proprietary technology that incorporates SWR™. It is a simple-structured fiber optic cable in which the optical fiber ribbon is covered with a tape by wrapping. Compared to conventional fiber optic cables such as slot structures mainly used domestically and loose tube structures common overseas, WTC™ has a thinner and higher-density structure, enabling the use of existing ducts and significantly shortening construction periods.
*2 Spider Web Ribbon™ (SWR™)
An optical fiber ribbon developed using Fujikura’s proprietary technology. It features a structure where single optical fibers are intermittently bonded, offering excellent flexibility. This allows for high-density implementation within fiber optic cables, contributing to thinner and higher-density fiber optic cables.
