Exhibiting mmWave products at MWC Barcelona 2025 - First display of a fully integrated 28GHz mmWave antenna board and live demonstration of ultra-low latency remote control using 60 GHz mmWave Wireless Communications Module-
Fujikura Ltd. (Director, President and CEO: Okada Naoki) will exhibit its millimeter wave related products at MWC (Mobile World Congress) Barcelona 2025, the largest exhibition in the mobile industry to be held in Spain.
At this exhibition, we will be exhibiting a 28 GHz beamformer IC *2 and a frequency conversion IC *3 in wafer-level packaging *1, as well as for the first time exhibiting a 28 GHz millimeter-wave antenna board that incorporates these and integrates peripheral functions.
A live demonstration using 60 GHz mmWave Wireless Communications Module *4 will also be held at the venue.
MWC Barcelona 2025 will be held from March 3rd to 6th. If you are at the venue, please stop by our booth "Hall 5 5C81".

28GHz mmWave antenna board
The newly developed 28 GHz millimeter-wave antenna board for 5G millimeter-wave base stations integrates an 8x8 array antenna, a wafer-level packaged beamformer IC and frequency conversion IC, a bandpass filter that passes only specific frequencies, and a combiner/splitter that combines/distributes multiple millimeter-wave signals.
In addition, it also integrates board-to-board (BtoB) connectors, a phase locked loop (PLL) that generates reference signals for frequency conversion, and a DC/DC converter that can power the entire board with a single 12V power supply, making it easier to design 5G millimeter wave base stations and helping to reduce construction costs.
In this demonstration, we will perform "calibration-free beamforming," which does not require initial phase adjustment (calibration) for beamforming.
By combining this antenna board with a vector network analyzer (R& S® ZNA67) manufactured by Rohde & Schwarz *5, it is possible to stably perform over-the-air (OTA) phase measurements of frequency conversion devices in real space.By comparing a beam pattern with an initially adjusted phase with an unadjusted beam pattern, it is clear that the high beam direction accuracy is comparable to that of an unadjusted beam pattern.

60 GHz mmWave Wireless Communications Module
We will be conducting a demonstration of high-quality, low-latency video transmission that combines the world's top-level long-distance, low-latency 60GHz millimeter-wave wireless communication with the JPEG XS codec. By playing a simple game while watching the transmitted video and comparing it with video with delay, you will be able to experience the smooth operation in real time from the high-quality, low-latency video.
The trial will be conducted over a license-free, low-interference 60 GHz wireless communication line, combining an ultra-low latency camera device from Extrixa Inc. *6 with the low latency JPEG XS *8 codec from intoPIX, Inc. *7.

60 GHz mmWave Wireless Communications Module
*1 Wafer-level packaging
This is a technology that performs the final packaging process directly on the semiconductor wafer. In addition to enabling a very compact design, it also allows the connection between the chip and the external terminal to be very short, improving signal quality. Since the chip is packaged directly, the amount of material used for external packaging is reduced and manufacturing process is simplified, which contributes to reducing the burden on the environment.
*2 Beamformer IC
An integrated circuit that transmits or receives radio waves in a focused direction.
*3 Frequency conversion IC
An integrated circuit that converts the frequency of an input signal to a different frequency.
*4 60 GHz mmWave Wireless Communications Module
A wireless communication module that uses millimeter waves with a frequency of 60 GHz. Since 60 GHz does not require a radio station license and can be used with a simple system configuration, the development of communication devices and industrial equipment that use this frequency band is expected. Our modules are characterized by their world-leading performance of "automatic beamforming, throughput of over 1 Gbps at a distance of 500 m, and low latency on the order of milliseconds," and by the fact that they are shipped with a certification of technical standards conformity (a certification that mobile phones, wireless LAN devices, etc. conformity to the technical standards strong point / feature the Radio Law) from a certification organization.
*5 Rohde & Schwarz
The company is headquartered in Munich, Germany, and engages in electronic measurement, aerospace, and critical business businesses, including wireless communication/RF test and measurement. For the live demonstration of the 28GHz millimeter-wave antenna board, Rohde & Schwarz provided the CATR benchtop antenna test system "R& S® ATS800B," which can create an indirect far-field environment using a reflector in a compact environment, creating an OTA measurement environment while keeping the size of the anechoic chamber small.
*6 Extrixa Corporation
A company that develops, manufacturing, and sales camera, imaging equipment, and communications equipment.
*7 intoPIX
intoPIX provides advanced compression technologies that optimize bandwidth, reduce latency and power, and maintain high-quality image and video transmission for real-time cloud, mobile and wireless applications.
*8 JPEG XS
An international standard for image compression technology (ISO/IEC 21122) standardized by the JPEG committee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
