Fujikura's first 5kW+ single-mode fiber laser begins practical operation
October 31, 2024
Fujikura Ltd.
Our R&D and Fiber Laser business has been utilizing the results of the NEDO Economic Security Key Technology Development Program (*) to advance the development of the high-power SM-FL and will now be providing fiber lasers for processing studies in practical operation.
We believe that by increasing the output of the SM-FL, which was previously mainstream at up to 3kW, and by achieving a longer delivery cable to the output end compared to previous models, we will be able to contribute to further improved usability, more efficient processing, and cost reduction.
This FL is expected to be application to difficult-to-cut materials such as CFRP, and will be provided to EX-Fusion Co., Ltd., which is researching a wide range of laser applications, including nuclear fusion.
