Exhibiting high-output Type-C version of PAAM "FutureAccess™" 5G mmWave phased array antenna module at IMS2024

June 5, 2024
Fujikura Ltd.

Fujikura Ltd. (Director, President and CEO: Okada Naoki) will exhibit the high-power Type-C version of "FutureAccess™," 28 GHz Phased Array Antenna Module (PAAM) for 5G base stations, at the International Microwave Symposium 2024 (IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium 2024: IMS2024).
In addition to the Type-C, the exhibition booth will also feature the first demonstration of a 256-element antenna module equipped with four PAAMs.
The symposium also plans to feature five oral presentations, including joint presentations with Rohde & Schwarz *2, Avnet *3 and MathWorks *4.

[Fujikura Booth Exhibits]

At this exhibition, in addition to the static display of the high-power Type-C version of the PAAM "FutureAccess™", we also prepared a 256-element antenna module with four PAAMs arranged in a 2x2 configuration for a live demonstration.
The live demo will use the R&S ® ATS800B CATR benchtop antenna test system *6 provided by Rohde & Schwarz to create a far field *5 within a compact environment.
An antenna module consisting of four PAAMs has 16 times the transmission output and four times the receiving sensitivity compared to a single PAAM, significantly extending the communication distance with moving media. The fact that this transmission and reception performance can be achieved without calibration is a major strong point / feature of our PAAM.
In this live demo, you will be able to check the reception performance.
If you are at the show, please stop by booth #2060.

*5 Far field
The far field is an area where the measurement point is far enough away from the antenna that the antenna gain can be considered constant. Usually, the distance that constitutes the far field increases in proportion to the square of the antenna aperture diameter, and measurement errors become large at shorter distances.
