Received an "A-" rating in the 2023 CDP "Climate Change"

Fujikura Ltd. (Director, President and CEO: Naoki Okada) and the Fujikura Group responded to CDP's 2023 "Climate Change" questionnaire and received an "A-" score for "Climate Change."
"A-" is the second highest score and is positioned at the leadership level.
CDP, based in the UK, is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) that conducts environmental research and information disclosure, and calls on companies to disclose information on their efforts to combat climate change and their greenhouse gas (GHG) *1 emissions.
Regarding "climate change," more than 23,000 companies from around the world responded, and CDP will evaluate them with a score from A to D- based on how effectively they are responding to environmental issues related to climate change and disclosing information about them.
This score is used as an important criterion for investment decisions by investors around the world who pay attention to companies' ESG initiatives, and this is the first time in two years that our Group has received an "A-" score.

In 2016, our group establishment the "Long-term Environmental Vision 2050" and set four challenging goals: Challenge 1: Total CO2 emissions from factories "Zero by 2050 Challenge" Challenge 2: Minimization of water usage and wastewater management in factories Challenge 3: Coexistence of people and nature in factories Challenge 4: Effective use of resources and resource circulation.
In addition, for fiscal 2023, we have set targets of "reducing Scope 1 and 2 *2 by 33% by fiscal 2030 compared to fiscal 2020" and "reducing Scope 3 *3 by 15% over the same period," and have been certified by the international initiative "Science Based Targets."
Our group is engaged in a variety of activities to achieve these goals and realize a decarbonized society, and we believe that the "A-" rating for "climate change" is a recognition of the efforts we have made to date.
Based on the "enterprising spirit" and "Fujikura Technology," which are part of our Group's DNA, we will achieve energy savings by developing and introducing innovative manufacturing technologies, and will systematically introduce renewable energy to promote the reduction of GHG emissions.
Furthermore, we will contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society through our strong point / feature product lineup, such as high-temperature superconducting wire.

*1 Greenhouse gas (GHG)
Greenhouse gases are gases that have the property of absorbing radiant heat from the earth's surface warmed by sunlight into the atmosphere, rather than releasing it into space. Of the three types of greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and fluorocarbons, our company discloses information on carbon dioxide emissions.
