Fujikura Ltd. (Director, President and CEO: Okada Naoki)'s "Thin-diameter, high-density slotless Optcal Fiber cable" has been adopted as an exhibit at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Kanto Regional Development Bureau's Construction Technology Exhibition Hall (Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture), which recently reopened after renovation.

In addition, Fujikura Ltd. 's "Leaky Coaxial Cable for Local 5G" was also adopted.

Both communication cables will be on permanent display at the exhibition hall for the next two years.

The Construction Technology Exhibition Hall exhibits the latest construction technologies and initiatives through panels, videos, models, etc., and is an experiential facility where a wide range of people, from the general public to students and engineers, can "see," "touch," and "learn" whenever they need to.

For this updated exhibition, the exhibit products were selected based on the themes of "technology for disaster prevention and mitigation, national resilience, and infrastructure longevity," "digital transformation (DX) technology in the infrastructure field," and "decarbonization and green transformation (GX) technology in the infrastructure field," which contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. Both communication cables were selected as technological products that embody these themes.

The "Thin-diameter, high-density slotless Optcal Fiber cable" is an innovative Optcal Fiber that achieves a significant reduction in diameter and weight by adopting a slotless cable structure (WTC ^®) with a new ribbon core (SWR ^®).

This makes laying and extension easier, and the smaller allowable bending radius improves workability. In addition, in overhead laying, the reduced weight and wind load reduces the load on the common poles, and in conduit laying, existing conduits can be used more effectively. As a product that supports the rapid increase in data traffic worldwide, it is widely used in data center, high-speed communication network infrastructure, and other applications.

The "Leaky Coaxial Cable for Local 5G" (LCX20D-S6 series) is a cable-type antenna that supports the Sub6 band (frequency 4.6 to 4.9 GHz) and can create a communication area around the cable.

Effective locations laying are long and narrow areas such as railways, roads, tunnels, and dams, as well as underground shopping malls, factory production lines, and other areas with many radio wave obstructions, making it suitable for building communication areas that fit the shape of the site.

This product also has two types of polarization, horizontal and vertical, and by combining and laying them, it is possible to build high-speed communications using polarized MIMO. This product has been delivered to four locations, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Development and Demonstration for the Realization of Problem-Solving Local 5G" project implemented in FY2022.
