The Health and Productivity Management Excellent Corporation System was established by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2016 with the aim of making visible large companies and small and medium-sized enterprises that are practicing particularly excellent health and productivity management, and thus creating an environment in which they can be recognized by employees, job seekers, related companies, financial institutions, etc. Based on the evaluation criteria established by the Health and Medical New Industry Council Health Investment Working Group (jointly held by the Japan Health Conference Health and Productivity Management 500 Companies Working Group and the 10,000 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Health Declaration Working Group), the Japan Health Conference reviews the applications submitted by companies, etc., and then certifies them as "Health and Productivity Management Excellent Corporations."
Based on the idea that "a company's competitiveness is based on the good health of its Fujikura employee," Fujikura Group recognizes that the "health" of Fujikura employee is an important management resource in order to remain a company that is needed by society. Aiming to be "a corporate group where Fujikura employee work with enthusiasm," we are promoting initiatives for mental and physical revitalization and health promotion, such as those listed below.
1. Strengthening the foundation for health management
In order to create a workplace where Fujikura employee can work safely and healthily and to support diverse working styles, we are focusing on strengthening the foundation for promoting health management, such as establishing various health-related regulation, measures against excessive work, creating an environment where employees can seek advice when they are troubled, and supporting employees' return to work.
In addition, to "visualize health issues," we conduct health checkups, stress checks, and health risk assessments by analyzing the results of our own questionnaires, etc., and we are working on various health promotion measures by visualizing the effects from multiple perspectives based on the evaluation index of health management.
2. Promoting Fujikura employee health
In order to improve Fujikura employee health awareness and disease prevention management (improving health literacy), we are implementing various measures such as holding various training sessions (seminars) on self-care, line care, etc., publicizing consultation desks, posting information on our website, holding Fujikura stretching exercises and safety exercises every day after lunch, and providing healthy menus in Fujikura employee cafeterias and lunch boxes. In addition, we are actively collaborating with the health insurance association to hold cancer screenings, specific health guidance, influenza vaccinations, and events to promote step counts using a health promotion app.
3. Measures to prevent passive smoking
From the perspective of maintaining and improving the health of Fujikura employee and our social responsibility to protect the environment, we have established policy to prevent passive smoking, and are making various preparations to make our premises completely smoke-free by the end of fiscal year 2023. Specifically, we are working on measures such as gradually closing smoking areas on premises and imposing rules on time restrictions for their use, with the aim of completely eliminating smoking areas. We also hold smoking cessation seminars for smokers and introduce online smoking cessation clinics subsidized by health insurance. As the number of smokers in the head office area has been steadily decreasing, we have made our premises completely smoke-free from October 1, 2022.
