Fujikura Ltd. (Director, President and CEO: Okada Naoki) will exhibit its millimeter wave related products at MWC Barcelona 2023, the largest exhibition in the mobile industry to be held in Spain.
At this exhibition, we will be conducting the first live demonstration of 28 GHz Phased Array Antenna Module (PAAM) "FutureAccess™" ^*1 for 5G base stations, as well as a live demonstration of our 60 GHz band millimeter wave wireless communication module ^*2 and exhibiting a high-sensitivity module for the first time.

・First public demonstration.
- Two Fujikura PAAMs were installed facing each other to demonstrate communication quality evaluation using modulated signals ^*3.
- Experience ultra-fast continuous beam switching that switches every 200 nanoseconds.

60GHz band millimeter wave wireless communication module
- The company will unveil for the first time a high-sensitivity module that exceeds the world-leading performance of the previous model, which was "automatic beamforming and a throughput of over 1 Gbps at a distance of 500 m," and achieves even longer reach.
・ intoPIX ^*4 Low Latency JPEG XS ^*5 With live real-time 4K video transmission using a combination of codecs, you can experience high definition and low latency that is comparable to the original footage.

We have been conducting research and development into millimeter wave wireless communication for about 10 years. Currently, business companies around the world are adopting millimeter waves for their 5G networks, which is expected to lead to ultra-high speed communications with low latency.
We will continue to work on commercialization of this technology to realize even higher speed, larger capacity communications not only in Japan but all over the world.

*1 28 GHz Phased Array Antenna Module (PAAM) "FutureAccess™":
A module that integrates array antennas, beamforming ICs, frequency conversion ICs, and filters. This is the business 's highest performance module for indoor and outdoor applications such as fixed wireless access connecting telecommunications carriers and subscribers' homes, high-speed wireless access for mobile terminals, and relay circuits connecting telecommunications business' backbone networks and base stations.

*2 60 GHz millimeter wave wireless communication module:
A wireless communication module that uses millimeter waves in the 60 GHz frequency band. The 60 GHz band does not require a radio station license and can be used with a simple system configuration, so there are high expectations for the development of communication and industrial equipment that uses this frequency band. Our module has achieved world-leading performance, with "automatic beamforming and a throughput of over 1 Gbps at a distance of 500 m," and we aim to commercialize it in the second quarter of fiscal year 2023.

*3 Modulation signal: An electrical signal for wireless data transmission, which is generated by changing the waveform according to the data to be transmitted.
