Fujikura Ltd.
Fujikura Ltd. (Director, President and CEO Okada Naoki) and Fujikura Group will be sponsoring the Koto Cinema Festival again this year.
This cinema festival has been held annually by the Koto Ward Cultural Community Foundation since 2007 in an effort to promote Fukagawa, the birthplace of world-famous film director Yasujiro Ozu, as a "city of film."
This year, the 16th anniversary of the festival, it will be held on the 10th and 11th, close to December 12th, which is both director Ozu's birthday and the anniversary of his death.
Fujikura Group aims to achieve both a sustainable society and continuous corporate development through corporate activities that are "friendly to people and the global environment." We also believe that respecting and valuing the culture and customs of local communities is an important part of a company's corporate social responsibility (CSR).
With this in mind, we support the purpose of the Koto Cinema Festival, which is held in the Fukagawa district of Koto Ward, where our head office is located, and have been sponsoring it since its first event in 2007.
This year, six films will be screened, including some made using 35mm film, which was once mainstream, offering a different feel to films made using digital cinema.
The continuation of the Koto Cinema Festival will help Fukagawa, the birthplace of master filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu, to develop a new culture as a "movie town. We at Fujikura Group will continue to cooperate with activities in the Fukagawa area, believing that by enhancing the appeal of the Fukagawa area where our headquarters is located, more people will interact with each other and the culture of the local community will be further enriched.
