sales of high-resolution digital pressure sensor "AG6 series" begins

Fujikura Ltd. (Director, President and CEO Masahiko Ito) has recently added the newly developed "AG6 Series" to its pressure sensor product lineup and has begun sales. The "AG6 Series" is a pressure sensor that can digitally output pressure signals obtained through high-performance signal processing, such as 16-bit high resolution *1, low noise *2, and high-speed sampling *3, via an I2C-Bus interface *4, making it suitable for use in a variety of applications, including medical equipment.

Product development background
Pressure signals measured by pressure sensors can be affected by various noises, but our analog pressure sensors have excellent low-noise performance and have been well-received by many customers.
On the other hand, depending on the customer's application of the sensor, such as use in medical devices such as blood pressure monitors that require precise pressure signal measurement, a high-resolution digital signal is essential, so in such cases the customer has to combine an analog pressure sensor with a high-resolution analog-digital converter (pressure signal processing IC) and process the analog pressure signal to digitize it. For this reason, there has been an increasing demand from customers for pressure sensors that can directly output high-resolution, low-noise pressure signals in digital form.
- To achieve low noise, a unique MEMS *5 assembly structure is used that maximizes the performance of the pressure sensor chip and pressure signal processing IC, and the internal signal processing settings are optimized to achieve both 16-bit high resolution and low noise.
- Capable of high-speed sampling of 2 kHz, it is also suitable for applications such as industrial equipment that require high-speed signal processing.
- Supports digital output via the I2C-Bus interface, which makes it easy to connect to a microcontroller (a small computer that controls electrical equipment)
- Small package measuring 7mm square (excluding terminals) improves design freedom

*1 Resolution: The fineness of a signal that can be measured
*2 Noise: Fluctuations or disturbances in electrical signals, and the resulting confusion of data.
*3 Sampling: The act of reading out a signal, or the interval at which it is read
*4 I2C-Bus interface: A type of communication connection method. A two-wire serial data bus that greatly simplifies communication between ICs on a board and can be used in almost any situation.

*5 MEMS: Micro Electro Mechanical System. A device that integrates sensors, mechanical components, Actuator, and electronic circuits on a single substrate using microfabrication technology.
