Congratulatory Message for New Fujikura employee in 2021 (Summary)
Fujikura Ltd.
April 1, 2021
Congratulations on joining the company.
On behalf of all Fujikura Group Group Fujikura employee, I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to you young and energetic people who will be responsible for Fujikura Group in the future.
Fujikura's History and Third Founding
This year marks the 137th year since our founding in 1885. Although we have faced many difficulties since then, we have responded to our customers' expectations and contributed to society. We divide the 137 years since our founding into 60-year periods, positioning them as our first founding, second founding, and third founding. Currently, in our third founding since 2005, we have set a long-term vision and are promoting further technological development and market development. With the rapidly changing social situation and external environment, if we are content with the success we had up until our second founding and do not work to create new business by uncovering the potential needs of our customers, we will lose our value as a company. Only those who can adapt to change will survive.
Towards change
In settlement of accounts ending March 2020, Fujikura recorded its largest-ever loss of 38.5 billion yen. As a result, we abandoned our five-year Mid-Term Plan, which was scheduled to end in fiscal year 2020, and shifted our basic strategy to "focusing on early business recovery." We are currently working to rebuild our operations.
As one of the key measures in business revitalization, we have fundamentally revamped our management structure. Today, April 1st, marks the start of this new management structure. With me at the forefront, we will advance the transformation under this new system, steadily strengthening our profitability and rebuilding our revenue base, and we will surely overcome this difficult situation.
To overcome this difficult situation and transform into a sustainable company for the future, the cooperation of each and every Fujikura employee is essential. I tell all Fujikura employee to take "half a step forward." This means broadening your perspective, feeling the changes firsthand, and honing your ability to adapt to change. If everyone in Fujikura Group takes "half a step forward," it will become a very powerful force. From today, you too are a part of Fujikura Group and will be a source of that strength.
A request to new Fujikura employee who will lead the future
Please approach your work with awareness of yourself as a professional. If you approach your work as a professional and treat it as your own, you will develop a sense of responsibility, pride, and attachment. On top of that, devote yourself to your work, think things through, and boldly take on the challenge of "getting your ideas through." Your flexible, well-thought-out proposals will undoubtedly be a driving force for change, and what's more, the experience will surely lead to your own growth. Furthermore, your proactive proposals will generate lively communication. I believe that this communication will be a major driving force for change in the company.
