MIT.nano is a facility for cutting-edge research in the fields of nanoscience and nanoengineering established by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the U.S. Located in the heart of the MIT campus, this facility provides faculty, researchers, students, and partners conducting research in the field of nanotechnology with the equipment, special environment, and support from highly skilled technical staff that they need to advance their research.

At Fujikura, the Advanced Research Core (ARC), a new unit established within the company in 2019 to conduct cutting-edge basic research, will play a central role in promoting collaboration with MIT.nano.

Yumi Yamada, Director of ARC, had this to say about participating in MIT.nano:
"We are now in an exciting era, surrounded by digital transformation. At ARC, our researchers are working on cutting-edge technological developments from both fundamental and applied perspectives to pave the way for the next era. On behalf of ARC, I look forward to working with MIT.nano to explore the infinite possibilities of nanotechnology and enrich the world."

Professor Vladimir Bulović of MIT, founder of MIT.nano, said:
"For more than 100 years, Fujikura has been in the business of creating connections between people. This ethos is a perfect fit with MIT's culture of collaborative innovation. We look forward to connecting our new colleagues at Fujikura with the MIT community and members of the MIT.nano Consortium."

Going forward, Fujikura will provide advice to the MIT.nano industry consortium at its quarterly meetings, together with the 12 other consortium members, and will contribute to promoting nanoscale innovation at MIT.

About MIT.nano

The user community is centered around MIT researchers, but is also accessible to other academic institutions, industrial collaborators, member companies of the MIT.nano Consortium, and other external organization. Sharing resources through MIT.nano gives MIT researchers access to cutting-edge equipment that would be difficult for individual laboratories or unit to maintain. The vast 200,000-square-foot research facility also allows MIT to push the boundaries of current state-of-the-art technology by setting up dedicated lab spaces that can reinvent new nanoscience and nanotechnology tools, equipment, processes, and techniques.
