FUKAGAWA GATHARIA Concludes Reassurance Agreement with Municipality

FUKAGAWA GATHARIA was created as part of redevelopment project of Fujikura's former Fukagawa plant and has now become an office and shopping complex that attracts many people. FUKAGAWA GATHARIA has concluded a reassurance agreement with Koto Ward on the use of GATHARIA's facility as a temporary evacuation shelter in case of a flood due to Tsunami or other causes.

Fukagawa Gatharia Community Investments

The Fukagawa Gatharia was born from redevelopment of Fujikura's former Fukagawa plant. Completed in 2010, the facility is intended as "a place where people gather" that will fuse and develop rich bayside culture of Fukagawa-era Koto with hopes for the waterfront's future. Six years after the Fukagawa Gatharia's completion, Fujikura (Real Estate Co.) invests in the local community every year through a number of events and activities intended to stimulate activity. These are conducted in addition to investment in the form of ongoing maintenance of the "6 rest spaces" inside the Fukagawa Gatharia on behalf of numerous office workers within the facility and community members nearby. A summary of those investments is listed below.

Suzuka Plant's CSR Activities

On October 6th of 2016 at the Suzuka plant, we implemented anti-disaster training for a hypothetical large earthquake. Practice was held for all working employees on plant grounds to confirm evacuation routes from the first to the third evacuation sites and to test communication in the case of emergency. There was also training from the volunteer fire brigade on treatment of wounded and fire extinguisher operation, as well as actual operation training in the use of external fire hydrants. After the training, we received a review from the local fire chief and our goal is to hold varied anti-disaster training to prepare ourselves for the occurrence of unforeseen disasters as well as to learn the basic knowledge for emergency situations.

Also, on March 31st of 2017, we implemented CPX (Command Post eXercise) training according to the workplace BCP. We examined whether the workplace emergency management headquarters' systems were effective with the goal of checking the proficiency of assembly in an emergency, headquarters set up, and the accumulation, arrangement and consolidation of information. The training was to determine how well communications handled changing information between action and preparations teams and headquarters, including both directions to teams and damage reports to headquarters. The problems that were identified in this training were dealt with and improved upon, and will be used in training for unforeseen situations in the future.
