Fujikura Group Basic Principles for Safety and Health (Established on 1 April, 2010)
Safety is the basis of all our business operations. The Fujikura Group's management and all its employees will conduct business operations giving first priority to safety and legal compliance, thereby creating safe and comfortable workplaces and fostering their own mental and physical health.
- 1.We will comply with safety- and health-related laws and regulations and protect our occupational safety and health based on the in-house rules and standards.
- 2.We will implement specific safety and health plans and evaluate the results in order to make continuous improvements.
- 3.We will work to eliminate the occurrence of labor accidents through risk and toxicity assessments and by setting and implementing measures to reduce the risk of labor accidents.
- 4.We will foster our health both mentally and physically and endeavor to manage our health in an autonomous manner.
- 5.We will improve our safety and health awareness through systematic learning.

The Fujikura Group's occupational safety and health activities are managed by the senior vice president & member of the board, who is the officer in charge of occupational safety and health, and promoted under the responsibility of the president &CEO.

Promoting Risk Assessment
To achieve the goal of “achieve a tolerable level for all risks by the end of FY2020” we must identify and evaluate all risks for all locations. Fujikura has created Inherently Safety Promotion Team to promote essential safety measures and spread risk assessment techniques to all business locations. We will identify, evaluate, and then deal with all risks posed to our business locations based on priority.
OSHMS* Initiatives
Starting in fiscal 2010, we launched our OSHMS*, confirmed the progress made by each of our works, reviewed the structure, and promoted penetration within our business sites. In fiscal 2016, we started safety inspections at all Group companies in Japan conducted by the Inherently Safety Promotion Team. In fiscal 2017, we continued safety inspections at all locations and evaluated the progress at each location based on the information from the risk assessment system.

In fiscal 2017, the Inherently Safety Promotion Team has implemented essential safety measures (installation of safety guards) covering the two items of parasol-type winding machine and work machinery.

Established of Our Safety Pledge
In fiscal 2016, a fatal accident occurred at domestic affiliated companies. Fujikura Group established the Fujikura Group "Safety Pledge Date" on April 11, as a day when all Fujikura Group employees swear that strong desire for safety "will never cause disasters again" so as not to waste important life lost In addition, we issue "Safety Oath".
A fatal accident has not happened in FY2017.

Approach of "Designated Serious Disaster"
The Fujikura Group has been implementing initiatives to sharing information after absorbing disaster information that has occurred at each group company in the past and implementing countermeasures, but in order to strengthen its efforts, the Fujikura Group We place disasters of contents that should be developed laterally within the group as "designated serious disasters", and we are making efforts to share information with countermeasures.
Preparing for Large Disasters
Basic Principles and Policies
The Fujikura Group established its business continuity policies in March 2012, and also formulated the business continuity master plan as well as the plan to maintain a functioning headquarters for business continuity.

Group Emergency Management Headquarters Training
This exercise is a problem-solving exercise format, aiming at sharing the consciousness of the group disaster countermeasures headquarters and qualitatively improving disaster response capabilities through simulating behaviors corresponding to countermeasures at times of disasters.
Specifically, with the assumption that a major earthquake with the epicenter as the epicenter occurred, the disaster headquarters personnel will be aware of the events occurring at each phase and the corresponding items. At the end of training, expert evaluation was also conducted, and we confirmed the check & action for further improvement of our business continuity plan (BCP).

Headquarters Disaster Countermeasure Training
On December 19, 2017, we conducted training at head office disaster headquarters. The purpose of this training is to establish a disaster headquarters at the headquarters when an earthquake immediately under the capital occurs, but by actually doing the initial response, it will be possible to determine whether disaster information consolidation and the system will function effectively We are carrying out for purpose.
In this training, we also actually use the equipment necessary for information gathering. Safety confirmation system and satellite phone are also trying to learn the operation of equipment to be used at the time of a disaster by confirming the actual operation actually. At the Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters, each group carried out a series of training up to action, information gathering and reporting under the direction of the head of the head. After completion of the training, we have reviewed the reflections from each group and checked the improvement points connected to the next time and are leading to improvement of the Headquarters Function Continuation Basic Plan (BCP).
Emergency Drills at Fujikura Headquarters
On September 20, 2017 and October 5, 2017, we conducted evacuation drills by joining all of our employees in all our departments and head office affiliated companies in our headquarters district. In the training, we conducted evacuation guidance for visitors, initial fire extinguishment, and training for first aid for injured people.

Stairs Evacuation Wheelchair Workshop
When the elevator stops due to a fire or earthquake and it becomes unusable, it is necessary to evacuate employees with physical disabilities and injured employees out of the building using the stairs from the upper floor of the building. On October 18, 2017, at our company's head office, as part of disaster response training, we staffed "stairs evacuation" in order to evacuate employees who are physically handicapped and not self-reliant walking from the upper floor safely and quickly in the stairs Equipment "employee training seminar was held. At the seminar, representatives gathered from each floor, and after receiving explanation of handling, we actually took turns training using stairs.
Safety Confirmation System and the "Disaster Control Card" to Be Always Carried by Employees
Based on the idea that individual employees are important assets for the Fujikura Group, we are implementing a range of disaster control measures against large Nankai Trough earthquakes as well as inland earthquakes in the metropolitan area, all of which are predicted to occur in the near future. The disaster control measures include the distribution of "disaster control cards," which employees are always expected to carry, and the operation of the safety confirmation system.
Safety Confirmation System
The Fujikura Group has been implementing its safety confirmation system since 2010 in order to confirm the safety of employees and their families in the event of a disaster as its first priority responsibility. All results of the system operation are reported to the top executives.
"Disaster Control Card" to Always Be Carried by Employees
The Fujikura Group distributes disaster control cards to employees, who are obliged to carry them at all times. To help employees protect themselves in the event of a disaster, the card contains information on items that are essential for the protection of their lives, such as actions to be taken in each region during a large earthquake, a checklist to prepare for disasters, and responses to be made with regard to the safety confirmation system.
Anti-Disaster Activities at each Works
The Suzuka Works implemented comprehensive disaster prevention drills on October 5, 2017 under the assumption that a large-scale earthquake occurred. It is aimed not to think with your head when it comes to emergency, but to make it possible to remember the evacuation route and accurate information transmission etc. so that you can act. Also, on March 30, 2018, we implemented CPX in line with our business site BCP. Verification of the effectiveness of the office disaster countermeasures headquarters function, confirmation of the action procedure and acquisition level on the actions, external information, facilities, systems such as participation behavior for each group, operation confirmation of the equipment, information collection, etc. I did it for the purpose of drawing. In order to improve accuracy every time we repeat times, we will take measures and improvements in the future, such as reviews of methods for information sharing, enhancement of required equipment, improvement of event judgment standards, etc. so that measures can be taken according to the situation to go.

At the Numazu Works, disaster drills based on earthquake disasters were implemented. The 2017 degree training was conducted by a security officer to inform the fire department about the fire associated with the earthquake. Even in the tense state of fire, it is important to take appropriate actions calmly, and in the unlikely event of a fire, training is carried out according to the fire fighting plan so that we can act promptly.
Regarding condemnation, we conducted personnel seizure training at the place of primary refuge, and instructed and communicated by a message. Going forward, we will take various countermeasures and will carry out voluntary disaster prevention activities to prevent the spread of damage caused by disasters, and aim to further improve disaster prevention awareness.

At the Ishioka Plant, 208 people participated in the disaster prevention drill at the office on the afternoon of September 13 throughout the company. In FY2017, we did in a situation where Ishioka fire department suddenly can not meet in the event of a neighboring disaster, but under the director, we were able to train with millet as a result of the newly reviewed training content.
