[The United Nations Global Compact]

The United Nations Global Compact was proposed by former UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 1999 and formally launched in 2000 at UN headquarters in New York. The Compact currently consists of ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption that includes the tenth principle added at the Global Compact Leaders Summit held in 2004. The Global Compact is a voluntary and leadership initiative, requiring each business worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies and practices and implement them as a good citizen of the world.

Currently, more than 10,000 businesses and organizations worldwide (7 thousand businesses) continue their efforts in achieving the goal.
