Message from the President

President

Fujikura continues playing its role for creation of a prosperous society through the "Value Creation for Customer" model, an approach that is about delivering original value – not just products – to the customer.

This year, Fujikura celebrates its 126th anniversary. Since Zenpachi Fujikura, the founder of Fujikura, began producing the silk and cotton winding used for electric equipment in 1885, we have developed many different advanced technologies for wires and cables and adapted them to products in other areas, including IT, electronics, automobiles and energy. In each of these areas, Fujikura products have established a high level of trust from our customers.

When celebrating the 120th anniversary in 2005, we declared a strong-willed resolution: to "start again from zero" at the beginning of the "Third 60 Years" of Leadership. In this, we articulated our corporate will to make a greater contribution to a more prosperous society by pursuing the corporate culture reform under the Mission, Vision and Core Values (MVCV). We are to create the most suitable corporate culture for a company that pursues "Value Creation for Customer."

Although the world economy is now on track to recover from the global recession triggered by the financial crisis in 2008, the business environment surrounding Fujikura is still highly challenging. All of us at the Fujikura Group, however, will share the objectives and pursue the goal as one united team. We will transform this unprecedented economic crisis into a great business opportunity.

We do so by carrying on and further advancing the principles of the "Third 60 Years" and "Corporate Culture Reform." Upon these principles, we will develop the "Focus & Deep" strategy and strengthen our "Craftsmanship in monozukuri (manufacturing)" with a basic business principle. "Place the utmost importance on profitability." We will continue creating new technologies and new products, for we believe such creation is the energy source for "metabolism," or the essential activity for survival.

With "Value Creation for Customer" as the business model, Fujikura will work to fulfill its responsibility and the expectations of society. We will strive to become a company that the customers trust and thank with a smile.
