The future of the fusion splicer business depends on the "challenging and creative spirit" of the next generation of leaders who will inherit the achievements of their great predecessors.

DWDM technology is becoming more widespread amid the worldwide trend toward IT. High-performance Optcal Fiber are being developed one after another, and together with optical signal amplification technology, they are in the midst of remarkable progress. In order to realize high-performance and high-quality optical communication equipment, it is also important to improve fusion splicing technology. We have developed a "factory specification machine" specialized in fusion splicing optical amplifiers and peripheral devices, and are currently working on diversifying it. Although the "factory specification machine" used to manufacturing optical communication equipment temporarily cooled down with the collapse of the IT bubble, it is now thriving again worldwide. Furthermore, in the future, we plan to develop a fusion splicing system that is compatible with Optcal Fiber laser processing machines and Optcal Fiber sensors.

The uses of Optcal Fiber are rapidly diversifying beyond communications. As long as Optcal Fiber exists, fusion splicing is a technology that will never disappear. We will continue to take on new challenges in order to seize further business opportunities.

Thinking about it, without Fujikura's fusion splicers, the world of light we know today may not have existed. That is how important the role that Fujikura has played. There are three slogans that are still handed down in the product development of fusion splicers.

It is no easy feat to maintain the No. 1 position in global market share for so many years. The fact that we have been able to continue to achieve this is proof that the three slogans have been firmly ingrained in us as our spirit.
