Phase 4

Towards becoming a leader in cable development

By achieving technological breakthroughs and accumulating experience, Fujikura has established itself as a leader in undersea cables and cables for marine development.

March 24, 1995. At the moment of success after overcoming hardships, the project members were reflecting on their own challenges. The common feeling shared by all who took on the difficult theme with indomitable fighting spirit was that "people only grow when they push themselves to their limits under limited time and pressure." Moreover, because the goal of their challenge to their limits was a world record, it goes without saying that each individual grew significantly.

The results of this project have been recognized worldwide as the culmination of marine development technology. However, this feat was not achieved overnight. Since laying the first submarine cable at the mouth of the Tone River in 1915, we have participated in numerous submarine cable laying projects both in Japan and overseas, leading all of them to success. Meanwhile, in the development of cables for marine development, we have steadily overcome highly challenging challenges through the Dolphin-3K and now the "Kaikou," achieving dramatic technological advances.
