Development of Cable for 10,000 m-class Remotely Operated Vehicle "KAIKO"

Phase.5 And Then, Toward the Future

Passing on the technological assets we obtained through a wide array of projects to the future …

Since that first landing, "KAIKO" has collected numerous valuable research data such as on bacteria at a water depth of more than 10,000 m—another world first. In the process, it has substantially contributed to the wisdom of mankind.

The status of electric power in the world is currently advancing along the concept of "networks." Beyond the dimension of the power demand in a single country, let the power be given and taken via the global network to achieve a stable supply and sharing. We advocate such an ideal and in order to realize it, must materialize the "Interconnected line initiative" based on underwater cables (and overhead conductors, underground power cables, etc.) that connect a continent and a continent, or a country and a country.

Fujikura will continue to prepare for such a "scenario" and pass on all the technological assets obtained through projects to the future, while at the same time realizing their global utilization.
