Activities by Fujikura Automotive Asia and Yonezawa Electric Wire
Fujikura Automotive Asia Ltd. and Yonezawa Electric Wire Co., Ltd. held the 14th Yonezawa Wire championship tournament for boys’ baseball teams on the playground located within the premises, in which a total of about 200 boys participated from eight teams. They also held their annual fall event on the river bed of the Matsukawa. Participating employees enjoyed sports in the morning as the first half of the event, and in the afternoon they spent a wonderful time together with their children, eating potato stew and playing games. A cleanup activity was also conducted on the river bed of the Mogami near the head office with the participation of 200 employees. Participants collected trash for about an hour. Some employees enjoyed the activity along with their children.

Activities by DDK
From DDK Ltd., 343 employees and their families participated in the “Stop Global Warming” campaign implemented by Tochigi Prefecture for the period from July to September, and the company was commended by the prefectural government in recognition of its contribution to the campaign. The company also gave support to the fundraising activities of the Central Community Chest of Japan and to the volunteer activities conducted by employees to support the areas afflicted by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Employees also collected trash near the premises of the company.

Activities conducted by FETL in Thailand
On June 18, 2012, Fujikura Electronics (Thailand) Ltd. (FETL) requested Group employees to donate used children’s books: there was a shortage of Japanese children’s books in Thailand due to the loss caused by the flooding. In response, a lot of books were donated from Group employees within a short period of time, and a total of 442 books were packed in five cardboard boxes and sent to FETL in Thailand. The company then donated the books to the Japanese chamber of commerce in Thailand on July 22. The books were gratefully accepted.

On November 10, 2012, 61 members of the “To BE Number 1” club of FETL’s Prachinburi Factory visited Wat Krongyang Elementary School in Saraburi Province. The school, which has 23 students, was established in 1935. Although the old building needed to be repaired, including the repainting of the classrooms, it was left unrepaired because the school did not have enough funds. Hearing this, members of FETI voluntarily visited the school on a holiday to repair the building, including repainting the classrooms. Looking at the repaired building, teachers and children of the school said with delight, “It’s like a new school!”

Activities conducted by DDK-T
DDK (Thailand) Ltd. (DDK-T), which is a Group company in Thailand, conducted an activity to build a check dam across a small stream located in Thai Prachan National Park. Also, employees of the company visited a local elementary school to teach children about energy conservation and play games with them to help them learn about energy conservation in a fun way.

Activities by FOV in Vietnam
Fujikura Fiber Optics Vietnam Ltd. (FOV), a Group company in Vietnam, supported the organization of the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Day for people with disabilities and a ceremony for the Action Month for Children. FOV has also been holding an in-house football tournament for employees as a means to provide them with better workplaces and help them manage their health.

Activities conducted by FZL and FCL in China
In fiscal 2012, Fujikura Zhuhai Co., Ltd., a Group company in China, donated money to the areas afflicted by the earthquake in Yunnan through the Chinese Red Cross Society. Employees of the company also participated in traffic safety training and firefighting training (emergency aid and evacuation drills) as part of their occupational safety and health promotion activities. Moreover they planted trees and grew grass around the premises in their environmental activities. Fujikura Changchun Ltd. (FCL), another Group company in China, also provided employees with emergency medical care training and fire evacuation drills.

Fujikura (China) Co., Ltd. (FCH) and other Group companies in China have been supporting the repair and improvement of the facilities of Fujikura Hope Elementary School in Anhui Province since 2007.

Activity by FAMX in Mexico
Fujikura Automotive Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V. (FAMX), a Group company in Mexico, invited employees to participate in an event for nature conservation, with a view to educating them on safety and the environment, specifically on the importance of water and soil and energy conservation. Also the company annually holds a “health fair,” in which all employees undergo health checkups for diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, have an eye exam and receive vaccinations. The company has also been working to provide employees with more comfortable working environments by keeping the canteen, restrooms, garden and lighting equipment in good condition, preparing comfortable mats, and changing workplace layouts.
