Scholarship for four universities in science and technology in Myanmar

Fujikura Ltd. (President and CEO: Masahiko Ito, "the Company") hereby announces that it has established "Fujikura Scholarship" to support the development of human resources in science and technology for the next-generation leaders of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar ("Myanmar").

At the start, scholarship ceremonies were held with scholarship students, their families, their universities and related government agencies in Mandalay on February 15, 2017 and in Yangon on February 17, Friday, 2017.

20 students were selected for the scholarship from four universities: namely Yangon Technological University, West Yangon Technological University, Mandalay Technological University and Mandalay School of Technological University. In addition, "Fujikura Technical Reiew" for the past 10 years were donated to each university to provide recent technological information. The Company will continue to fund a scholarship and will send the Fujikura Technical Review to the universities every year from now on.

Background of scholarship fund in Myanmar

After setting up Myanmar Office in 2013, the Company established Barons & Fujikura EPC Co., Ltd. (BFE), a joint venture company with Barons Machinery & Engineering Co., Ltd. in 2015. Since then, the Company contributes to nation building in Myanmar through improving network for electric transmission, electric power substation and telecommunication which are BFE's key businesses. In addition, the Company conducted training of advanced construction method of power distribution for a total of 160 engineers in Nay Pyi Taw, the capital in Myanmar, in 2015.

Since 2015, to strengthen the support for nation building in Myanmar, the Company has been visiting universities in science and technology and related governmental agencies in Myanmar to find needs. We have now decided to fund "Fujikura scholarship" and donate the "Fujikura Technical Review".

The Company will continue to strive to contributing to nation building in Myanmar.
