It is said that he was filled with an "enterprising spirit"
Zenpachi Fujikura, Founder

The history of Fujikura began in 1885 when Zenpachi Fujikura started manufacturing copper and silk wound wire.
It begins.
Zenpachi became interested in electricity after seeing an arc lamp being lit up on Nihonbashi Street in 1883.
He foresaw the coming of the electric age.
At that time, Zenpachi was running a braiding business in Kanda Awajicho, and the braiding technology he produced led to the development of braiding techniques for electric wire coating.
Because of the similarities, I started the electrical wire business.
Zenpachi also began researching rubber-coated wires, and in cooperation with Tomekichi Matsumoto and Harukichi Nakauchi, he expanded business.
We have brought highly reliable products to the world using cutting-edge technology.

Fujikura Electric Wire Co., Ltd. is established.

Establishing the foundation for "Fujikura's Technology"
Tomekichi Matsumoto, First president

He was the youngest brother of Zenpachi Fujikura and worked with him on research into rubber-coated wire.
After Zenpachi's death, Matsumoto Tomekichi became his successor and took over Zenpachi's private company.
The company was organization as Fujikura Electric Wire & Rubber Co., Ltd. in 1901.
After that, with vigorous efforts, the electric wire business continued to develop.
We will establish "Fujikura with Technology" that is still relevant today.
In 1910, due to the need to expand the electric wire business, the electric wire business was separated.
Fujikura Electric Wire Co., Ltd. (now Fujikura Ltd.) was founded.

Developing socially beneficial technology and contributing to business development

Harukichi Nakauchi, the younger brother of Zenpachi Fujikura, was adopted into the Nakauchi family.
He helped Zenpachi with his electric wire business, improving manufacturing techniques, etc.
This contributed to the development of manufacturing technology.
At the time, electrical insulating paper and telegraph punch paper were supplied exclusively from overseas.
He has been involved in research and the development of domestically produced insulating paper, and has supported the company's management since its founding.
In his later years, he worked on charitable business, and in 1919 he won the Fujikura Social Contribution Award.
Our origins lie in the establishment of Fujikura Gakuen, a facility handicapped person on the island of Izu Oshima.
